2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Limited: no longer the performance beast it used to beI just got an electronic mail from Subaru, announcing the 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Limited. It got me excited. The STi is an awesome car, and I'm glad it's finally available in the United States. Its 2.5-liter turbo engine is a beast to drive. Gripping the steering wheel, I felt like I am hanging on the raging devil's horns, taming the beast. So I have even higher expectations for the 800 unit limited production run--that is until I read the e-mail. Apparently the limit production STi has a 293-HP turbocharged Subaru boxer engine--7 horsepower less than my wife's 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi! Other advancements in this limited production run: thin lip spoiler, power glass moonroof, black Brembo brake calipers (use to be gold), and black leather-trimmed upholstery. Wow . . . they have really "RAISED THE BAR"! Which bar? The racing-performance bar? Not quite. It's more like raising the cruising-down-the-Sunset-Boulevard-in-comfort bar.
